Why Napoleon Bonaparte “Lost war” in Egypt?

Everyone knows Napoleon Bonaparte and also his big passion and love for Egyptian history and art but also for his expeditions and military campaigns in Egypt. In year 1798 Napoleon decided to conquer Egypt for the sake of France and also for the desire to beat England. But why  he did not succeed? Why did Napoleon lose the war in Egypt? Now a lot of people will thinks they know the true answer but trust me the news what I will show you right now is a proof- you have no clue about Napoleon loose…

Napoleon Bonaparte really admired Egyptian culture. He admired the historical side of Egypt and in the 18 century Egyptology was not exist yet. We can say that he was one of the first person who gave the basic for nowadays Egyptology. He invited a lot of artist, historic, philosopher, linguistic and religious people from Europe to study and write about Egypt. Unfortunately they did not succeed so well because they did not know the Egyptian mentality and Egyptian people made a fun of them and refused to help them at all. There were really a lot of culture problems between Europe and Egypt with which Napoleon did not count as a: religion, kind of food and water, women, and of course environment and weather.

If you read the history of Napoleon, you will find when he came to conquer Egypt so the first place where he landed was Alexandria – so he came of course cross the sea. And you will find Egyptian people was not surprised or scared from the french army, they were just a careless and from this all the army was shocked.

Then he continued across a desert where a lot of his soldiers died of hot and hungriness even suicide because he did not know the Egyptian – desert environment. As a hot, insects, problem with water etc. and he did not know the treating and solution for it.  European was in deep ignorance about Egypt. But then he reached Cairo and fought in the battle under Pyramid and he won and then even Cairo capitulated. Napoleon also fought in naval battle of Abukir and he lost this battle. This time French army lost almost everything what they brought to Egypt with them so since now the life was very hard for the French army who remained.

At last Napoleon visited city called Mansoura. And Mansoura was the place of his “loss” but actually you will not find this information on internet or any other book because the history was purposely altered by European historians but here in Egypt till now all the people remember the story, even a small kids till nowadays make a fun of Napoleon Bonaparte and I am going to share with you the story right now !

STORY OF MANSOURA

mansoura

I showed you the European view of point but now let me describe you what Egyptian people remember from the time of Napoleon. A lot of things are really different.

Firstly when Napoleon reached Alexandria so the Egyptian people were not careless at all. But they were just used on conquerors in this time and the people was really very poor because European stole everything from them so they could not defend themselves but of course they warned each other. French army actually had a fun of Egyptian people because they came with a lot of guns and bombs and till now Egyptian never heard about such a weapons. So there was a story a french army threw the bomb in Alexandria and some Egyptian people went to see “what it is” and of course it bombed in their hands. so French people thought the Egyptian are very ignorant but actually there were not ! because they had a secret weapons. And what I mean by it??? Lets move to Mansoura…

masnouraa

Napoleon visited Mansoura not for fighting but for culture study. And the people were there generous and they agreed they will help them with the study of Egypt. And for this the Egyptian made a big celebration at night and invited all french army. Well they accepted this invitation with a pleasure. Celebration started and Egyptian hosted them with a lot of food and alcohol what French army really loved and as a last they brought Egyptian treasure ” Belly dancers”. This for European men was something fascinating. So beautiful, hot and seducing girl are dancing just for them to make them enjoy the time and to be happy. And also the style of the dance – they never saw something like this before. Each men from French army fell for this. And it happened each of French man spent privately a night with one of the belly dancer. And in this night the belly dancers killed all the french army. Can you imagine? How many belly dancers had to be there? and How the women was actually strong?

After this night Napoleon run away from Egypt and let rest of his army which were on another place than Mansoura for their own fate. So the weapons of Egypt are actually : firstly language ( Arabic for Europeans was not famous and specially with an Egyptian slang)  so the Egyptian could prepare this plan without the french people could discover it and the second: woman- beautiful and clever.

But to be honest after this main night of Egyptian victory almost all the belly dancers got pregnant and till now we call Mansoura “city of European people” because all the babies were very beautiful and looked like Europeans. And even nowadays if someone wants to marry really beautiful girl so he search in Mansoura. The girls are white and  have a colored  eyes and hair – simply exactly as European.

Notice if this did not happen and the belly dancer did not succeed so Napoleon would actually win in Egypt at the end.

For sure when Napoleon run away so as we know from European history the England came and beat the rest of the french army mostly in Alexandria.

Simply it is a huge mistake to underestimate Egyptian people. They have “white hearts”  but they are not ignorant and they are always full of surprises.
